The pathology and laboratory department offers referring doctors and patients a comprehensive selection of tests and services. This is in partnership with Pathologist Lancet Kenya.
Our laboratory strives to perform physician-ordered tests accurately and efficiently and provide clear and timely reports. The consultant pathologist and consultant microbiologist in PLK will discuss any concerns and assist in interpreting results. Analysis of patient’s specimens at are conducted on fully automated and computerized analyzers. The pathology service provides extensive investigative parameters and profiles coupled with the highest level of personal and professional service.
The laboratory offers surgical pathology and cytology services which include gross and microscopic examination of tissue, frozen sections; body fluid cytology, fine needle aspiration; and liquid based cervical cytology.
Our laboratory also provides services that include testing for hematology, transfusion medicine, immunology, serology, clinical chemistry, endocrinology and microbiology.
Results are computer generated and promptly delivered to the health care provider which are delivered either electronically or by hand delivery. Patients may obtain their results from their health care providers.
Hours of operation
Laboratory test analysis technical support personnel are on duty 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Inpatient specimen collection is done by phlebotomists and technical staff collect inpatient specimens throughout the hospital. Outpatient specimen collection is done at the lab technicnician on duty 24 hours a day.
On weekends and holidays, blood will be collected at the A&E department.
All specimens are received by unit personnel at the specimen processing area in the front of the laboratory.
