Paediatrics & Neonatology
The Department of Pediatrics & Neonatology at Ladnan Hospital provides comprehensive, high quality care for your child, starting from birth right through to adolescence. We have UK and American board certified pediatricians whose vision of care is comprehensive, compassionate, culturally-directed, uniform, and of the highest, most up- to-date standard.
The Paediatric Clinic
The outpatient paediatric clinic at Ladnan Hospital is open six days a week, starting from 8 am to 7 pm every day except Friday. Clinics are staffed by five American and UK board certified paediatricians with extensive experience in the care and management of children. It is advisable to take a prior appointment to see a paediatrician in the OPD; however, if you come to the clinic during working hours without a prior appointment, we will make every effort to accommodate you, but you may need to wait until the scheduled patients are seen.
Our paediatricians offer an comprehensive level of inpatient hospital services in case your child ever needs to be admitted. The attending paediatrician on hospital service is available for care during the entire time the child is in the hospital. Furthermore, that care is coordinated with sub-specialists and /or outside phyisicians or primary care providers in the community.
Children who are sick and require regular monitoring and care are admitted to the dedicated paediatric in-patient area which includes both twin sharing rooms and single rooms. The rooms are designed for paediatric patients. We even have a large playroom to offer as much play therapy while the child is in the hospital . Upon discharge, you will leave with a discharge summary and enough education and follow up guidance from our trained staff that you will feel secure to take care of the child at home. In addition, your follow up will be arranged with your regular paediatricians or our pediatricicans and or sub-specialists.
The paediatric department provides specialised care in the following areas:
Childbirth and newborns
All high-risk deliveries at Ladnan Hospital are attended by a paediatrician or neonatologist. We have state-of-the-art delivery rooms and a full-term nursery to take care of your newborn. Our neonatal trained nurses and our midwives help new mothers take care of their newborn baby, including help with breastfeeding, bathing, cleaning and other day-to-day care. We also offer an intensive care neonatal service with a neonatologist to provide care to the newborn baby if required.
Before discharge, your baby will receive vaccinations against Hepatitis B and BCG and blood samples will be sent for newborn screening tests for common metabolic disorders in infancy.
After discharge from the hospital, your child will be followed regularly in the paediatric outpatient clinic to make sure they receive their vaccinations on time and to ensure they are growing and developing well.
